Monthly News for Our Donors & Partners
July 2024
We are grateful for the many people who have supported The Chatfield Edge through its first full fiscal year of existence. Because of the generosity of our supporters, we have helped non-traditional, first-generation, and underserved scholars ages 18 to 72 move closer to their educational goals. Each of them has a uniquely inspiring story that keeps us committed to our mission.
Please help us spread the word about our services to those who can benefit or support. Share this new commercial about The Chatfield Edge, which recently aired on Local 12 and Star 64!
Student Scholar: Carnesha Johnson
Her grandmother was her heart and soul, her best friend, and the one who taught her how to be a woman and a mom. When Chatfield Scholar Carnesha Johnson lost her grandmother two years ago to Covid-19, she experienced a time of intense grief and, ironically, intense motivation. She committed to getting her GED and started her educational journey to become an occupational therapy assistant.
The Chatfield Edge helps Carnesha stay on track with her educational goals and afford necessities like the gas and the expensive medical books she needs to complete her degree.

Community Engagement
In mid-June, The Chatfield Edge hosted 75 local teachers from the Brown County area for two days of service learning. They explored historical, natural, educational, and manufacturing resources available in Brown County. Our team shared information about services provided by The Chatfield Edge and shared the educational history and legacy of the Ursulines of Brown County via a walking tour of the Chatfield campus designed as a seek-and-find for historical landmarks and structures.
Thanks to The GRIT Project for partnering with us and sponsoring lunches!

Through his roles as the Dean of the University of Cincinnati – Clermont College and Professor of Management and Marketing, Dr. Jeffrey Bauer sees the struggles of today’s post-secondary students. While his oversight of 3,700 students in six buildings, online, and through the College Credit Plus Program at UC Clermont doesn’t provide a significant amount of focused time with students, he knows the importance of ensuring that students have layers of support.
Make plans now to visit beautiful Brown County for a day of fun for the whole family including food trucks, music, activities for kids, and our annual Quilt, Craft, and Car Shows! The Chatfield Edge Fall Heritage Festival runs from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm, rain or shine. $5 a person or $10 a carload. You won’t want to miss out on this fun day.
