Robert Elmore Returns as Executive Director
The Board of Directors of The Chatfield Edge is pleased to announce that Robert P. Elmore, the sixth president of Chatfield College, has returned to serve as the executive director of the organization. He replaces Roger Taylor who left last month to pursue other interests.
Bob worked tirelessly with the Board of Trustees to help us preserve the educational legacy of the Ursulines of Brown County when the college had to close in 2022. He fiercely believed we could continue to make a difference by assisting underserved populations through postsecondary education attainment.
Bob’s passion for helping students succeed is evident in his words, “We are successful if our students end up in a better place than where we met them.”

Scholar Spotlight – Anna Robertson
December 13 is National Day of the Horse, and we are celebrating alongside one of our scholars, Anna Robertson, who is an Equine Studies major at Asbury University in Wilmore, KY. Anna grew up in Milford, OH, was home-schooled in high school, and attended the former Chatfield College for two and a half years.
“When I am in the presence of a horse, it can be intimidating, but when they become comfortable with me, they give me confidence that I can handle them,” Anna reflected just a few weeks before heading off to her first year at Asbury last August. “As someone who is shy, I gravitate towards animals because with them, I don’t have to figure out what to say.”

Volunteer Spotlight – April Houk
April Houk has strong connections to Chatfield. Living just a mile away, she often rides her bike or walks through the campus and even got married in Chatfield’s historic Sacred Heart Chapel. Her husband’s family has farmed nearby land for almost 40 years, and his grandmother was a cook at the former boarding school of the Brown County Ursulines for nearly 50 years.
When April heard that The Chatfield Edge was looking for mentors, she immediately wanted to seize the opportunity. She wanted to give back to a community that came out to support her after the death of her daughter, Allie, who was tragically killed in an ATV accident in 2021. “The community was so good to me. I can’t give back enough.”

Through your generosity, we worked with 17 scholars in our Educational Endeavors program, and we awarded more than $20,000 in financial scholarships to 13 Chatfield Scholars this fall.
