Welcoming Our New Development Director
We are pleased to announce the appointment of Christina Mullis as the new Director of Development for The Chatfield Edge. If her name sounds familiar, it’s because Christina previously served Chatfield College as the Director of Admissions and Marketing.
“Christina’s ability to connect with people and organizations is exceptional,” said Robert Elmore, President of The Chatfield Edge. “She articulates the need for support in a way that inspires action and directly strengthens our mission to help students. Her depth of nonprofit experience—as well as her skills, drive, and passion—make her a perfect fit for this leadership role. We are very pleased she is re-joining the team.”

Each spring, we look forward to gathering our scholars, mentors, friends, and supporters for our annual fundraising brunch. If you’ve never attended, get ready for a shot of inspiration! Our “Celebrating Our Scholars Brunch” is a great opportunity to learn about our mission from the people it impacts: our student scholars. You’ll also hear from the mentors who accompany and support them from the time they begin their programs of study until they graduate with a certificate or degree.

Scholar Spotlight: Tina Roberts-Ballard
When some people hit their 50’s, they begin to think about winding down. But this month’s Chatfield Edge Scholar is just getting started!
After earning her GED in April 2025, Tina Roberts-Ballard couldn’t stop thinking about her dream of becoming a cosmetologist. She met David Hesson, our Director of Programs, at a job fair and began to believe that her dream was within reach. In a short time, with support from The Chatfield Edge, the door to her 22-year bus driving career slowly closed, and the door to Empire Beauty School flung wide open.
Now, only a few months from her June graduation, Tina is excited for her future and wants to encourage others, regardless of their age, to get the education they need to move forward. “Just go for it. Do what your heart desires. Don’t let anybody tell you that you can’t do it. And if you need help, contact David and apply for a scholarship from The Chatfield Edge because they are great!”

Mindset Matters: Grow Your Thinking, Solve Anything
We are excited to wrap up the first year of our Let’s Chat Webinar Series in March. Since last September, we’ve explored time management, resume writing, goal setting, mentoring, and self-care. If you missed any of these, you can access the webinars on our website’s events page.

Our presenter, Jeannie Judge, is a mentor with The Chatfield Edge and loves to work with people, problems, and processes. With nearly four decades of experience in nonprofit management and a master’s degree in Creativity, Problem-Solving, and Change Leadership, she is excited to help people in our community move beyond challenges and barriers and find solutions and possibilities.
