National Twins Day —Scholar Spotlight
This week, National Twins Day is celebrated throughout the US, but we celebrate this every day at The Chatfield Edge in support of Chatfield Scholars Aidan and Ethan Kirk. Although they might appear identical, their educational paths are quite different. Last April, we highlighted Ethan’s story, including his journey into Resort and Attraction Management at Bowling Green State University.
This month, we are featuring Aidan – a high school valedictorian who is pursuing business at Ohio University and working hard to finance his education independently. Learn how Aidan is making a difference on campus and how mentoring and financial support from The Chatfield Edge is helping him move closer to his education and life goals. Mentor Spotlight —Maureen Kiley
When Maureen Kiley moved to Fayetteville more than 50 years ago with her three young children, she had no idea that her life would become deeply intertwined with the educational legacy of the Ursuline Sisters of Brown County. As she drove up the long road toward the former Chatfield College campus, she felt a strong sense of welcome, protection, and acceptance.
Fast forward five decades. Today, Maureen is one of our board members and uses her own experience as a first-generation college student, her professional background in counseling, and the modeling she received from the Ursulines to help Chatfield’s scholars navigate the challenges they face. Read how her own mentor, Sr. Agatha, inspires Maureen to carry on the Ursulines’ legacy of education as a mentor with The Chatfield Edge.
We’re Growing and Need More Mentors!
On December 17, we surpassed a milestone at The Chatfield Edge. Since the organization’s launch in January 2023, we have now served more than 50 students who are pursuing college, trade school, and certificate programs. Some have graduated and are now employed in their fields, and others are just starting out. All of them are in a better place because of the 1:1 mentoring they receive from one of our Chatfield Edge volunteers.
